« isle of mull, birdwatch safari
The next three hours (we took the shortened version of the trip due to the winter ferry schedule) saw us spotting golden eagles, hen harriers, buzzards, kestrels along with lots of other species too numerous to mention.
Richard actually said it was a quiet day in terms of species spotted although we didn't think so.
As a special treat to Luc the safari ended with some seal spotting, a herd (?) of which were obligingly lolling about on rocks in a bay close to Craignure.
It seemed a rather cool day to us for lounging by the sea, but the blubber-covered seals seemed pretty laid back!
By this time the weather had turned again so the hot chocolates with brandy at the cafe-bar near the ferry terminal seemed like a great plan.
The safari was thought provoking to see such magnificent birds in their natural habitat is a treat that most people don't have the opportunity to experience.
It has led us since to keep a closer watch on the skies whilst driving about on Real Food Cafe activities and has put a good pair of binoculars and a book on birds high on the shopping list.
We also have no doubt that we'll be seeing Richard again.
